Today was a day of surprises—delicious, odd, and sometimes confusing surprises. At the local farmer’s market, I stumbled upon a stall selling exotic fruits I’d never seen before. The vendor called them “dragon fruit,” “rambutan,” and “mangosteen.” Intrigued, I decided to buy a few to try at home.
Back home, I started with the dragon fruit. Its vibrant pink skin and speckled white flesh were mesmerizing. The taste? Mildly sweet, with a texture like a mix between kiwi and pear. It was refreshing but not as dramatic as its appearance.
Next came the rambutan. Peeling it felt like uncovering a hidden gem—the hairy exterior gave way to a translucent fruit that looked like a giant grape. It was juicy and sweet, with a slight tang. I loved it!
Then, the mangosteen. This one was the biggest surprise. Breaking open its thick, purple shell revealed segments of soft, white fruit inside. The taste was divine—sweet, citrusy, and creamy all at once. It instantly became my favorite.
Trying these fruits felt like a small adventure, each bite giving me a taste of faraway lands. It made me realize how much variety the world has to offer and how exciting it is to step out of my comfort zone.
P.S. Mangosteen is officially my new obsession—I’m already Googling where to buy more!
