Today, I visited the Gayer-Anderson Museum, and it felt like stepping into a treasure trove of art, history, and mystery. Tucked beside the Mosque of Ibn Tulun, the museum’s charm lies not only in its remarkable collection but also in the house itself—a beautiful blend of Islamic and Ottoman architecture. The moment I walked in, I was transported back in time. The intricate mashrabiya screens, colorful stained-glass windows, and detailed carvings on the walls were mesmerizing. The house is divided into several rooms, each filled with artifacts that reflect the diverse tastes and eclectic personality of Major Gayer-Anderson, the British officer who restored and lived in the house in the early 20th century. One of the first rooms I explored was the Persian Room, where every corner seemed to hold a story. The delicate Persian tiles, antique rugs, and stunning painted ceilings made me feel like I had entered a palace. The lighting, soft and warm, added to the sense of timelessness. The Har...
Today, I visited Mogamaa El-Adyan (The Complex of Religions), and it was an unforgettable journey through the spiritual and historical heart of Cairo. This unique area, where mosques, churches, and a synagogue coexist, is a beautiful testament to Egypt’s rich history of religious diversity. As I entered the area, I felt a sense of calm and reverence. The first stop was the Hanging Church, an architectural marvel perched atop the Roman Babylon Fortress. The intricate wooden ceiling resembling Noah's Ark and the colorful icons depicting saints and biblical stories immediately caught my attention. The peaceful atmosphere inside made me pause for a moment of reflection. From there, I visited Saint Sergius and Bacchus Church, where tradition holds that the Holy Family took refuge during their flight to Egypt. Standing in the crypt where they supposedly stayed was surreal. It gave me chills to think about the layers of history in that very spot. Next, I made my way to the Ben Ezra Synago...
Today I visited the Mohammed Ali Palace in Manial, and it was like stepping into a fairytale of art, history, and elegance. From the moment I entered, I was captivated by the lush gardens surrounding the palace, filled with exotic plants and winding pathways that felt like they belonged in a storybook. The palace itself was breathtaking. Its unique blend of Islamic, Ottoman, and European architecture made every corner a feast for the eyes. The intricate details on the ceilings and walls were unlike anything I’d ever seen before—geometric patterns, delicate floral designs, and vibrant colors that seemed to tell a story of their own. The Golden Hall was a particular highlight for me. Its opulent chandeliers, gilded mirrors, and luxurious furniture made me feel as though I’d stepped into a royal banquet. Standing there, I tried to imagine the grand gatherings that must have taken place in that very room. Another room that left a lasting impression was the Throne Hall. The ornate carvings ...
Today, I spent the day exploring West El-Balad, and it was like stepping into a blend of the old and the new—a vibrant snapshot of Cairo's heart and soul. The energy of the place was infectious, with its bustling streets, historic architecture, and the unmistakable aroma of fresh coffee wafting from the cafés. The first thing that caught my attention was the beautiful, old European-style buildings. Many of them were adorned with intricate balconies and decorative details, reminiscent of a bygone era. I couldn’t help but stop and admire the charm they added to the neighborhood, even as they stood alongside modern storefronts and fast-paced city life. Walking down Talaat Harb Street was an adventure in itself. Shops lined both sides of the street, offering everything from handcrafted jewelry and textiles to modern clothes and electronics. I couldn’t resist browsing through some of the small boutiques, where the shopkeepers welcomed me warmly and even offered a little haggling. Midday...
Today I visited the Egyptian Museum in Cairo, and it was like stepping into a treasure chest of ancient wonders. From the moment I walked through the doors, I felt transported to another world—a world filled with pharaohs, gods, and mysteries. The first thing that caught my attention was the grand statue of Ramses II in the entrance hall. It was massive, and the intricate details of his face and posture were mesmerizing. It felt humbling to stand before something so ancient yet so full of life and power. As I wandered through the halls, I marveled at the golden artifacts from King Tutankhamun’s tomb. His golden mask was even more breathtaking in person than I imagined. The craftsmanship was incredible—the intricate patterns, the radiant shine of the gold, and the piercing blue of the lapis lazuli. I found myself wondering about the artisans who made it and the young pharaoh who wore it. One of my favorite sections was the room filled with mummies. It was eerie yet fascinating to see ho...
Today was the day I finally visited the Pyramids of Giza! It felt surreal to stand in front of such monumental pieces of history. The morning air was crisp, and the sun was just starting to rise as I approached the site. The golden hues reflecting off the pyramids made the entire landscape look magical. The Great Pyramid of Khufu was the first to catch my eye. Its sheer size was overwhelming, even though I knew it would be big. Up close, the limestone blocks were weathered but still stood firm, a testament to their enduring strength. I tried to imagine the effort and skill it must have taken to build something so massive thousands of years ago. Walking around, I could see camels lined up, their colorful saddles adding vibrancy to the desert’s muted tones. I couldn’t resist taking a short camel ride. It felt bumpy but fun, and the view from atop was stunning—I could see the pyramids, the sand stretching endlessly, and even the bustling city of Cairo in the distance. The Sphinx was equal...
Today was one of those days that felt creatively fulfilling and oddly therapeutic. I spent the day working with ceramic paste, something I’ve been curious to try for a while. The idea of shaping something with my hands and bringing a blank piece of material to life was so appealing. It started with setting up my little workstation—just a table, some tools, and, of course, the ceramic paste. The texture was soft and cool to the touch, and it had this satisfying pliability that made it so easy to work with. I decided to start with something simple: a small trinket box and a flower-shaped ornament. The trinket box was challenging at first. Getting the sides smooth and even was harder than I thought, but I quickly got the hang of it. Patience was key! The flower ornament, on the other hand, was pure fun. I loved shaping the petals, layering them to make them look delicate and natural. I even added tiny grooves to mimic veins on the petals. By midday, I was covered in bits of dried paste an...
Today was such a heartwarming day spent with my family. We rarely get to go out together, so this felt special from the start. We decided to try a new restaurant that opened recently in town. The place had such a cozy vibe with warm lights and soft music playing in the background. The menu was filled with so many tempting options that it took us forever to decide. We eventually ordered a mix of dishes so everyone could share and taste a bit of everything. I loved watching everyone’s faces as they tried something new — my dad’s reaction to the spicy soup was priceless! The food was delicious, but honestly, it was the laughter and chatter around the table that made the meal perfect. After the meal, we weren’t ready to head home yet, so we walked over to a nearby café. It had this rustic, artsy look with bookshelves and little potted plants on every table. I ordered my favorite drink (you know I couldn’t resist the classic hot chocolate) while others got coffee or tea. We spent hours just...
Today I spent the entire day at City Stars Mall, and it was so much fun! It’s one of the biggest malls I’ve been to, and I honestly felt like I could get lost in there (in the best way possible). I arrived in the morning, eager to explore. The mall is massive, with endless floors and a mix of shops for everyone. From international brands to local stores, there was so much to see. I couldn’t resist stopping at a few stores to check out some clothes and accessories—I even treated myself to a new pair of earrings that caught my eye. After some shopping, I headed to the cinema to watch a movie I’d been wanting to see. The theater was so cozy and well-equipped, and it felt great to take a break and relax with some popcorn and a good story. By lunchtime, I was starving, so I made my way to the food court. The variety was incredible—so many cuisines to choose from! After much debate, I went with a burger and fries from a place that smelled amazing. It was so satisfying to sit and enjoy my mea...
Today was such a fun and memorable day—I spent it at Cairo Festival City Mall! I had been wanting to visit for a while, and it lived up to all my expectations. I arrived late in the morning, and the first thing that struck me was how massive and beautiful the mall is. The design is so modern, with wide open spaces, sleek architecture, and a lively atmosphere. The outdoor area with the fountain was especially impressive—it felt like a little escape from the city. I started my day by exploring the shops. There were so many options, from high-end brands to smaller, more affordable stores. I couldn’t resist buying a couple of things—a cozy sweater and a cute notebook that caught my eye. It was so much fun just wandering through the stores, even window shopping felt like an adventure. By lunchtime, I was starving, so I headed to the food court. The variety of cuisines was overwhelming in the best way possible. After much deliberation, I went with a delicious pasta dish from an Italian place...
Today was amazing—I tried ziplining for the first time! It was something I’d always wanted to do but never quite had the courage for. I’m so glad I finally went for it. The day started with a mix of excitement and nervousness. As we arrived at the zipline site, my heart raced when I saw how high the platform was. Watching others glide effortlessly through the air made it look so easy, but the thought of stepping off the edge was terrifying. After a quick safety briefing and putting on the harness, it was my turn. The instructor assured me that everything was perfectly safe, but standing on the platform, looking down at the trees below, I couldn’t help but hesitate. Then came the moment of truth. With a deep breath and a little push, I launched myself off the platform. The first few seconds were pure adrenaline—I couldn’t believe I was actually doing it! As I zipped through the air, the wind rushed past me, and the view was incredible. The treetops stretched out for miles, and I felt co...
Today was such an unforgettable day—I finally visited Abdeen Palace! I’ve always been curious about this place, and seeing it in person was even more impressive than I had imagined. As I approached the palace, I was immediately struck by its grandeur. The white façade, intricate details, and towering gates were breathtaking. It was hard to believe I was standing in front of a building that had witnessed so much of Egypt’s history. Walking inside, I felt like I had stepped back in time. The palace’s interior was beyond stunning, with its high ceilings, elaborate chandeliers, and luxurious decorations. Each room seemed more impressive than the last. One of the highlights was the Hall of Mirrors, which looked like something straight out of a fairytale. The light bouncing off the mirrors and crystal fixtures gave the space an almost magical glow. I spent a lot of time in the Museum of Historical Weapons, marveling at the collection of swords, guns, and other weapons from different eras. It...
Today was a day I had been looking forward to for a while—I finally visited El Maadi! The neighborhood has always intrigued me with its reputation for being peaceful and full of greenery. It didn’t disappoint. As soon as I got there, I felt a shift in atmosphere. The streets were lined with trees, their branches forming a canopy that shielded me from the sun. The quietness was such a nice break from the usual noise of the city. Walking through the streets felt like stepping into a different world—one where life moved a little slower. I wandered around, taking in the unique mix of old and modern buildings. Some houses had this charming vintage look, with colorful doors and beautiful gardens. I even saw a few cats lounging lazily on the sidewalks, completely unbothered by the world around them. After some exploring, I finally made my way to a café I’d been meaning to try. It was tucked away on a cozy side street, with a little outdoor seating area surrounded by plants. The atmosphere was...
Today was an incredible day filled with history  and beauty. I visited two of Cairo’s most iconic mosques: Sultan Hassan Mosque and Al-Rifa’i Mosque. They are located right next to each other, like majestic twins standing tall against time. The moment I arrived, I was captivated by the grand architecture of Sultan Hassan Mosque. Its massive entrance felt almost overwhelming, and the intricate details on the doors and walls were mesmerizing. I walked into the courtyard, and the calmness took over. The sunlight poured in from above, highlighting the large fountain in the center. Each corner of the mosque seemed to tell a story from the past. I also learned that this mosque is one of the finest examples of Mamluk architecture. The towering minarets seemed to touch the sky, and the cool marble floors under my feet added to the serenity. After spending some time there, I walked across to Al-Rifa’i Mosque, which felt like stepping into a different world. The elegance of this mosque contr...
